San Diego’s citizens deserve better than being under the thumb of major corporations. After the FCC decision to repeal Net Neutrality regulations, Jordan Beane is calling for the City of San Diego to protect internet freedom and study bringing municipal broadband to America’s Finest City.
Jordan Beane’s Statement:
“This is an opportunity for America’s Finest City be an innovation leader while attracting high paying jobs and technology startups to San Diego. This is about providing reliable, fast, and potentially cheaper communication network access across our city. According to the United States Census, 12% of San Diegans still do not have access to the internet at home.
Municipal broadband would bring new opportunities to those unconnected. Beyond those without connectivity, many neighborhoods have two or less internet service providers to choose from. That is why I am calling upon the City of San Diego to study bringing municipal broadband citywide.”
